What Happens When You Combine A Porsche With A Lexus
Updated: May 25, 2020
When you a take design from a Porsche® and combine it with our MDRN Elite Retrofit Package, what do you get?
You get a very unique headlight and the maximum light output possible. We did all of this on our client's 2004 Lexus GS300.
What can we do to these headlights
The 2nd generation Lexus GS300 came with reflector type headlights and standard halogen bulbs. These headlights also had a factory HID option that was available on the bigger engined Lexus GS430.
Our client's headlight already had aftermarket HIDs installed but he wanted even better light output, which was his main concern. He also wanted something that looked different and would really stand out.
We needed something that would really bring the attention to the lights but nothing too gaudy. After going back and forth on some potential concepts, we came up with this design.
(Why not take an OEM design from another vehicle and combine the two? The shapes of the headlights are somewhat similar.)

The retrofit process
Using the Porsche® Panamera shroud would be the clear winner in achieving a unique look, and implementing our MDRN Elite Retrofit Package would result in the brightest output possible. Now it was time to bring it all together.
The GS300 headlights have large sized reflector bowls which make it easier to use bigger sized shrouds like the Panamera, but considering all the parts that were involved in this retrofit we needed even more space. After cutting, sanding, and punching holes until we made enough clearance to be able to mount all the parts, it was finally time for paint.
Multi-stage paint is the same process manufacturers and body shops use to properly paint a vehicle. This is the same process we use here at MDRN. Using House Of Kolor® Black, we painted the housings, bezels, and shrouds. We also added Orion Silver accents to the Panamera shroud to make it really stand out more.
(Paint from a spray gun and using high quality paints makes a huge difference in quality.)

From concept to reality
After we got the headlights on the vehicle, it was time for some extensive custom wiring. The Panamera shrouds were wired to function as a DRL,(Daytime Running Light) and flash to amber for turn signal. To make use of all 4 projectors, they were all wired together as low beam and high beams. Now as for the demon eyes, we installed a switch inside of the glove box to manually turn the bluetooth controller on and off.
